Second Cohort of Eight Educators Completes Diploma for Education in Emergencies

We are happy to announce that eight of our educators have completed their four-semester ‘Education in Times of Crisis’ certification from the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) in February 2026.

Generously funded by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the diploma program, in its second cohort, integrates psychosocial training essential for teaching in challenging circumstances. Over a year and a half, our teachers engaged in coursework that blended traditional teaching methods with innovative approaches, including new activity-based learning techniques, the integration of modern technology such as AI, and digital learning tools like educational and evaluative games.

The New Cohort

The cohort included teachers and principals from educational centers. Two of them returned to Syria during the course and completed it online. We look forward to them transferring their added knowledge and skills into their work in Syria.

The Graduates:

  • Sara Shamma
  • Ezdihar Omar
  • Hanadi Ibrahim
  • Shorook Taaimi
  • Baidaa Aloush
  • Ahmad Salame
  • Najlaa Hsein Hamdan
  • Rindala Mghames

“The course contents were very useful for school education. The most important was the Pedagogy course, where we learned to create our own unique teaching methods and styles suited to our students and their environment, making the classroom more effective. The Curriculum course gave me the ability to modify and implement improvements to the curriculum so it better fits our pupils.”

Twenty Trained Teachers

Over the course of this multi-year partnership, the generous support of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints enabled 20 teachers — across two cohorts — to earn their Diplomas in Education in Times of Crisis. This investment has strengthened local educational capacity by equipping educators with practical tools, crisis-responsive methodologies, and child-centered approaches that directly improve learning environments for vulnerable children.

Beyond individual professional growth, this project has contributed to more resilient schools and more sustainable livelihood pathways for teachers serving in challenging contexts. The ripple effect of this support extends to hundreds of students who now benefit from better-prepared, more confident educators.
