This month, we are proud to share global recognition for our work in education, spotlight a powerful regional workshop, share with you how we worked on creating better and safer learning environments with our students and staff, and update you on the impact of our Refugee Education Program.

Championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: PIEoneer Award 2025

We are proud to share that we have been named the winners of the Championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award at the PIEoneer Awards 2025.

This honor recognizes organizations that are breaking barriers in education and ensuring that opportunity is not defined by background or circumstance. For Jusoor, it affirms our mission to maximize the potential of Syrian youth through education, whether by supporting refugee children in Lebanon, providing scholarships to top universities, fostering entrepreneurship, or preparing young people for careers. We dedicate this recognition to our global community of partners and supporters. Your belief in our mission makes achievements like this possible.

Shaping Regional Strategies at FemNet4GTE 2025

At the end of August, our colleague and Head of Refugee Education Suha Tutunji, represented Jusoor at the FemNet4GTE 2025 Regional Action Workshop in Cyprus.

The workshop brought together educators, activists, researchers, and policymakers from across the SWANA region to advance Gender-Transformative Education (GTE). Suha joined voices working toward inclusive, equitable, and resilient educational systems, ensuring Syrian youth remain at the heart of regional education dialogues.

In partnership and funding by Right to Play, we collaborated on strengthening education and wellbeing for our youngest learners. More than four hundred grade 1 and grade 2 students across our centers benefited from play-based literacy and social-emotional learning activities. Teachers joined four communities of practice sessions to exchange knowledge and strengthen their approaches, while parents participated in dedicated workshops led by psychosocial counselors.

The project, which started in February and concluded this month, also improved our learning environments, with classrooms in Jurahiya and Jeb Jennine repurposed into vibrant libraries, new playground equipment installed, and safe spaces expanded with a covered tent and upgraded facilities. These combined efforts are nurturing brighter futures for our children by reinforcing learning, well-being, and community support.

Insights from 2024–2025 Program Impact

Our latest Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Report highlights the results of our Refugee Education Program in Lebanon over the past academic year.

Key takeaways:

  • Despite crises and war, 79% average attendance was maintained.
  • 83% of in-person students completed final exams, with over 71% promoted to the next level.
  • 97% showed improvement in social-emotional learning, reinforcing the importance of holistic education.
  • Partnerships with organizations like Right To Play enriched classrooms with activity-based learning and boosted teacher capacity.
  • Investments in digital pedagogy and emergency adaptations allowed continuity during disruptions.

These results demonstrate the impact of Jusoor’s education programs in Lebanon and provide valuable lessons as we prepare to scale initiatives inside Syria. Thank you for being with us as we continue this journey together.
