Alaa Hadid

MA Graduate of “Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action” from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar in 2021. BA of “Arts and Social Studies”, and a Diploma of “Cultural Studies and Russian Language." I worked with different government and academic institutions in several countries. I have professional experience in program planning, implementation, policy advocacy, and management, with experience as a project manager at an Iraqi national NGO focusing on the prevention of violent extremism in Nineveh Governorate. Moreover, I have academic publications in the fields of peace studies and political science and I aim to publish two other academic publications in the fields of peace, conflict, and political science.

Since the scholarship, Alaa worked with different government and academic institutions in several countries like Qatar, Iraq and Germany among other locations. She worked with the International Crisis Group on Europe and Central Asia Department, Danish Refugee Council, Qatar Red Crescent, The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Qatar and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia. Alaa worked as a project manager in Iraq, focusing on the prevention of violent extremism in North-Western areas of Iraq, and as a consultant at Elbarlament Organization in Germany, focusing on the peacebuilding and conflict resolution efforts in the Middle East. Alaa is an alumna of the Caux Scholars Program in Switzerland 2023, an intensive international training focused on peacebuilding, transitional justice and ethical leadership. Alaa has academic publications in the field of peace, conflict and political science. One of them is a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Asian Affairs titled “Stable Jordan: How A Monarchy Survived Disorder”, in addition to a book chapter published by Routledge titled “Challenges to Youth Civic Engagement and Community Development in Syria”. Alaa is a board member in Flüchtlingsrat Hamburg Organization and co-manager of the mentoring team at The German-Syrian Research Society (DSFG) in Germany.
