Bridges to Syria, Future Skills & Back to School

Future Skills Project Participants practice programming at Jurahiya Center in West Bekaa, Lebanon

As the first month of 2025 comes to an end, and following last month’s historic shift in the situation in Syria, we step into the year with renewed hope and excitement for what lies ahead. This month also marked the return of our in-person projects in Lebanon, spanning our academic year programs and the ongoing Future Skills Project 3.

The Next Chapter for Jusoor & Syria

As Syria enters a pivotal moment with new challenges and shifting dynamics, the need to support young Syrians in building a future full of opportunities has never been more urgent. We believe now is the time to step forward with renewed aspiration, and so we are embarking on a new chapter, one that reaffirms our dedication to Syria’s future in a bold and meaningful way. Stay tuned for our upcoming email, where we’ll share more about our initiative that we want to invite you all to.

Future Skills Project 3.0 Wraps up

This January, the third iteration of our Future Skills Project, generously supported by Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund, has come to a close after maintaining its sessions online throughout the war and in person since the start of the year. The project offered students a one-of-a-kind opportunity that empowers them with hands-on learning experiences that spark creativity, critical thinking, and language development.

From coding interactive Micro:bit projects like a day sun indicator and space invaders to mastering critical thinking through problem-solving and storytelling, students are honing essential skills. Meanwhile, beginner English lessons build confidence in everyday conversations. Through this dynamic program, our students are gaining valuable 21st-century skills, preparing them for a brighter future.

Back to School after the Ceasefire in Lebanon!

Excitement, fun, and eagerness to reconnect with friends and teachers were the main feelings Jusoor’s young learners felt as they came back to their education centers on January 6. Our students had been studying online since the outset of the aggression on Lebanon, and while their education did not stop, the challenge of adapting all curricula online, suddenly, especially for our early childhood students, was particularly difficult. We are extremely happy to have all our students back!

As we begin the new year, we are grateful for your continued support of Jusoor and look forward to a fruitful year ahead.
