Jusoor - Khairieh Mourtada Scholarship

About the Scholarship

This scholarship targets Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian youth who face significant barriers to accessing quality education and sustainable livelihood opportunities due to ongoing conflict, instability, and economic hardship.

It is designed to support students currently enrolled in bachelor’s programs at recognized public universities in Syria—particularly those pursuing degrees in medicine—by alleviating the financial and logistical challenges that hinder their academic continuity and completion.

The scholarship covers core educational expenses, including tuition and registration fees, and provides partial support for living and transportation costs, as well as essential learning resources.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a Syrian or Palestinian residing in Syria, holding a Syrian passport, Syrian national ID card, or Palestinian travel documents.
  • Be enrolled in a recognized public Syrian university at the bachelor’s level and have completed at least two years of study, including those enrolled in the parallel education track (التعليم الموازي).
  • Be currently pursuing a degree in Medicine
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or 62.5%.
  • Demonstrate clear financial hardship.

If selected for the scholarship, the successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:

  • To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs, and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media, and in publications.
  • To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor.
  • To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates.
  • To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria.
  • To maintain good academic standing.
