We are MIT Solve Winners; Lebanon Crisis Update

Students in Lebanon switch to online learning due to school closures as a result of the war

It has been a very difficult month in our region, and with the war continuously escalating in Lebanon, we had to tread carefully and completely reassess the way forward, to ensure the safety of the children and staff members, while continuing to deliver our promise of education to the children at our centers, but also reaching hundreds more displaced children.

MIT Solve to Support AI-Powered Learning for Refugees

We are proud to share that, Yeti Confetti for Refugees, our project bringing AI learning to our Refugee Education Centers in Lebanon with Lirvana Labs, is one of six selected Solver teams in MIT Solve’s Global Learning Challenge! MIT Solve sought out cutting-edge technology-based solutions that address equity gaps in learning. At the MIT Solve 2024 Launch Event in September, we were also awarded the GSR Foundation Prize which recognizes solutions that innovatively use technology to address pressing issues in their communities, which have the potential to scale globally. This support is needed now, more than ever, to power us to continue to make education accessible to refugee children, despite the circumstances.

Almost 1000 Students in Lebanon Continue Learning Online

In response to the situation in Lebanon over the past month, we launched Himam, our online education initiative for displaced children in Lebanon. With over 400,000 children displaced and out-of-school, Himam ensures the children continue learning core subjects such as Math, Arabic, and English, as well as Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) through the popular and easy-to-use platform WhatsApp. We need your support to continue to provide education to our children and make Himam accessible to even more children as we grow and expand it to meet the massive need for education to continue. With only $30 you can support a child’s education for a month while $135 will support one child for the whole academic year.
